Hi I've fixed my probelm at last but can use either email address. My sister Robin who is a travel agent just called my the other day or several times last two days and says she has s super deal for those who wish to attend reunion and wish to fly there. It s lowest fare avaliable from Southwest airlines and if 40 of us use this, PDA will get a free ticket that we could raffle off at the meeting. I have the following article from The Tribune Jonesville N.C. Nov. 27, 1991 "Elizabeth Pledge Poindexter gave patriotic service in the Revolutionary War. I am researching my grandfather's uncle, J. T. Poindexter, a 19th Century portrait artist who is in included in several publications about portraiture in Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The Evansville Museum of Arts had an exhibition, "James Poindexter Revisited," in the fall of 1980 that included "over twenty-five portraits and still lifes from Museum and private collections... works loaned from as far away as New York. A Kentucky nativ who came to Evansville in 1852 to establish a reputation as a portrait painter, and later as a daguerreotyper, Poindexter is recognized today as one of Indiana's most important 19th Century painters." I have visited the museum and have information from t eir files about the portraits they have and those borrowed for their exhibition. I am interested in any information about the artist or portraits he painted. Some of his known portraits were unsigned but his style was distinctive. I am especially interested in locating any portraits in Mississippi, Louisiana, or Alabama before a trip hat my sister, Lana, and I are planning this spring. I would also like to locate the portrait of Mississippi Gov. Poindexter (1820-1822) that was placed in the Hall of Fame.

Went to Minnesota for a visit and went to the Titanic exibit. It was extremely interesting. They had all the names of the people who sailed. There he was "John Poingdestre." I rubbed my finger over his name and felt a real closeness to my family. The had a davit that you could touch. A davit is what the life boats swing out on. As I touched it I thought maybe it was from his life boat and maybe I was resting my hand on his. I wish we knew what happened to him and where he connects to the USA Poind xter line.
