Links to Isle of Jersey Genealogy Web Sites
(For
trip planning information to Jersey and England, please visit our Jersey
Travels page.)
- Cyndi's
List of Channel Island web sites, a comprehensive list of links.
- Société
Jersiaise (American translation: Society of Jersey). The members
of the Société welcomed the PDA tour group very warmly
in June 1998 with a dinner party on Saturday evening and as honored
quests at their monthly meeting Monday evening. The Société
has an extensive research library which includes an original manuscript
of John Poingdestre, uncle to our immigrant.
- Alex
Glendinning's page on family research on Jersey. Alex has adopted
the Poingdestre family as his subject of research. He has spent many
months reviewing past reserach, archived documents and interviewing
many people, including Poingdestre's living on Jersey today. During
the PDA's tour of Jersey, June 1998, he was inducted as an honorary
member of the PDA family. This is a must-visit web site for those who
are researching their Channel Islands roots. Alex is the Vice-Chairman
of the Channel Islands Family History Society (CIFHS) and his Home Page
contains a wealth of information on the Society including general information,
the index of contents for recent Journals, and a list of upcoming events.
He has also included Research in the Channel Islands FAQs (Frequently
Asked Questions) and descriptions of his very informative books on the
Islands. He has a second website at the Société, click
here to visit.
- Jersey
Datestones Project: marriages were once recorded in stone on Jersey.
Learn more about this old tradition and the Project to record them.
- Channel
Islands Queries: Geoff Wright's web site, including how to join
the Channel Islands email list, The Jersey Phonebook for 1900 and Some
links to other Channel Islands sites.
- John
Fuller's web site that deals solely with the Channel Islands and
attempts to focus on Channel Islands genealogy. He enjoys helping those
who are seeking their Channel Islands roots and hope that something
on these pages will be of assistance to you. He has a long surnames
list.
- Geraint
Jennings web site: including tutorials in the original Jersey lanquage,
Jérriaise, details on the Jersey crest and flag, and a link to
