Gathering of the Family: informal social time by the pool.
- 12:00 - 4:00 PM, Registration
in the hotel atrium.
- 1:00 PM, Mini Lectures:
- Isle of Jersey Photo Tour: Jamie Poindexter will review Poingdestre
related sites visited in Jersey during the 1998 PDA Reunion Tour.
- The Jersey Cow in America: Josh Waterhouse talks about raising
Jerseys in Iowa. He has a small herd just North of Burlington.
- Burlington History: Kathi Waterhouse will talk about the history
of the area, from Zebulon Pike's visit, to territorial capital
to present day Burlington. She will also talk about genealogy
researching at local courthouses.
- Also see Saturday at 10:00 AM for "Missing Links"
presentation.
- 4:00 PM, Officers Meeting
at the hotel.
- 7:00 PM, Astronomy
Night: Astronomy Night and Picnic: hot dog picnic followed by
a visit to a local observatory for a program. Weather permitting,
everyone will get a chance to look through the telescope. Personal
autos and vans will depart hotel at 7:00 PM.
Friday, June
21:
- 8:00 AM, Bus Tour and
Lunch of Nauvoo, Illinois and the new Mormon Temple: now
including tour of the new Mormon Temple, also visit the restored
homes and shops of the Mormons before their great overland move to
the Great Salt Lake. See the Browning Gun Shop, Statue Garden, candle
and quilt making, pioneer playground for the kids, and more. $35 includes
bus and lunch ($25 under 18). Note, the 2003 Reunion will be held
at Salt Lake City, the end of the trail that starts in Nauvoo. More

- 5:30 PM, Dinner on
the shore of the Mississippi River: at the Port of Burlington.
$15.00 and $10.00 under 12. Entertainment by the Prairie Band, learn
the Texas Two Step, Iowa style! Menu: Fried Chicken, Crumbled Beef
Sandwiches, Ranch Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Sheet Cake, iced tea,
coffee, lemonade. The full Moon is just a few days away, so be ready
for a beautiful moonrise over the river.
Saturday, June
22:
- 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon,
Registration and Genealogy: The Genealogy Room will be open for
registration, sharing of research notes and conversation.
- 9:00 AM - 1 pm,
Shopping Downtown: shop Antique Alley and see the most crooked street
in the US, Snake Alley, followed by lunch (Dutch Treat) in downtown
Burlington restaurants.
- 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon, Missing Links:
a presentation and discussion on the research for Poindexters in America
1650 - 1750, with a focus on lost branches and the Thomas-1 Mystery.
Led by Ed Poindexter, chair of Early Poindexters in America Research
Committee (EPARC).
- 1:30 - 3PM, Membership
Meeting: the annual business meeting of the Association.
- 1:30-3:30PM, For the
Kids: clowns will entertain the kids with balloons, face painting,
music games and fun. View the video presentation.
- 5:30 PM, Family Photograph:
location will be announced at the Membership Meeting. An order form
will be available at the Reunion. There will also be an opportunity
for individual family photos to be taken.
- 6:30 PM, Banquet:
$25.00, $12.50 under 12. Entertainment by the Sasaya
Indian Dancers, Boy Scout Explorer Post 800. Our annual gift exchange
follows, so please bring gifts representing your hometown. Suggest
one gift for each member of your party. Menu: Smoked Iowa Pork Chop,
Santa Fe Chicken (lightly seasoned), Twice Baked Potatoes, Green Bean
Almondine, Tossed Salad, Rolls, Coffee, Ice Tea, Lemonade.
Sunday,
June 23:
- Morning Prayer Meeting: deatils to be announced.
- Departure Breakfast/Brunch:
informal and Dutch treat, have breakfast with others or make your
own group plans, in the hotel's restaurant.
