Thursday September 29

Thursday Dinner, 5:30 pm

Dutch treat (not included in registration fee)

Meet in hotel lobby.  Carpool in groups or walk.  Parking areas are available near the restaurants.

We have three excellent restaurants to choose from, all owned by the Cortez family for three generations. All restaurants are located in El Mercado (Market Square) which is “The Heartbeat of Mexico,” where locals and visitors alike enjoy spectacular fiestas, shopping as diverse as produce and piñatas, and the romantic music of strolling Mexican troubadours. The Market Square is located about two miles from the hotel and just a few blocks from San Antonio's beautiful Riverwalk.

Seating is limited at each restaurant so your reunion host may need to assign you to one of our restaurant choices. If you have a favorite after reading about these restaurants, you can let us know by sending an email to reunion@poindexterfamily.org

If you wish to walk, it is 0.6 miles or 13 minutes from the hotel. Walking Map

Polish those boots, dust off your favorite hat, and put on your best jeans (or whatever you would like to wear). You won’t even have to fire up the grill or be the grubslinger, but we will enjoy a backyard BBQ buffet. It will include coleslaw, German potato salad, grilled pork chops, roasted chicken, ranch style beans, Spanish rice and of course peach cobbler (what Texas meal is complete without cobbler?). Ice tea and coffee will be served with dinner. For those who wish to partake of an adult beverage, just wander over to Bar 414 (next to the Robert Johnson room) and feel free to bring your beverage to the banquet.

This evening, John B. Poindexter will provide an update on family research in Virginia.

Photo od George ChambersNow you are probably wondering about our entertainment for the evening. We will enjoy music by George Chambers of George Chambers and the Country Gentlemen. Mr. Chambers has worked with Willie Nelson, George Straight and Charlie Pride. He has been a San Antonio resident since 1946 and will provide us with music that is somewhere between old school classic country and cowboy campfire songs. After dinner he will entertain us with a few songs that will get everyone singing along and maybe even a few toes tapping.

You may bring your own lasso (we won’t provide a dogie), but please leave your barking irons at home.
