1998 Reunion and Heritage TourIsle of Jersey![]()
June 16 - 23, 1998The PDA Reunion was held on Jersey with a week-long tour of the island, June 16 - 23, 1998. Sixteen descendants and spouses toured the Isle of Jersey, the birthplace of the Poingdestre/Poindexter family, including this webmaster. Our trip included visits to Poingdestre landmarks like Swan Farm and St. Savior's Church as well as Elizabeth Castle and much more! We also met Poingdestre family members still living on Jersey. Jersey is the largest and southernmost of the Channel Islands, right off the coast of Normandy, France. It is an oblong block of granite four miles wide and nine miles long. It has been continuously inhabited from about 2000 BC and has a wealth of history - neolithic tombs, magnificent castles, Napoleonic towers and fortifications from German occupation during World War ll. The Poindexters have a history here that dates back as early as 1250 with mentions of the name before that. Photo Albums:
