George Poindexter Ib. Isle of Jersey 1627 - d. Virginia Colony c.1691NOTE: We designate this George as George I (George One or first generation in America) to distinguish him from his son and other George Poindexters that came after him. Likewise his son is George II, or second generation. George II was likely born in Europe and either brought here as a child by his parents or came once he became an adult. George I was the third-born son of Thomas Poingdestre, the Signeur of the Fief ès Poingdestres on the Isle of Jersey. He was a planter (held a plantation) known as Criss Cross in Virginia. He also owned one or more ships which he used to ship hogs. He may have shipped other items, such as tabacco.
